Dulko advances to Budapest semifinals
(AP) - Gisela Dulko of Argentina defeated
Olga Savchuk 6-3, 6-4 Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Gaz de
France Budapest Grand Prix.
Dulko, the only seeded player remaining in the tournament, will face
Agnes Szavay of Hungary on Saturday.
Szavay advanced after fourth-seeded
Emilie Loit withdrew from the quarterfinal match with gastrointestinal
problems.
Sorana Cirstea of Romania and Karin Knapp of Italy meet in the other
semifinal. Knapp downed Anne Kremer 6-2, 6-1.
Cirstea, who had to qualify for the main draw, upset fifth-seeded Eleni
Daniilidou 2-6, 6-1, 6-4. The Romanian took a 2-0 lead in the final set
but Daniilidou tied it 3-3, before another service break by Cirstea
decided the match.
