Coleman captures first career NASCAR
Busch pole
(AP) - Brad Coleman put himself in good
position to win his first career checkered flag.
Coleman posted the fastest time in Friday night's NASCAR Busch Series
qualifying session and will start from the pole in Saturday's Aaron's
312 at Talladega Superspeedway.
It was the first career pole for Coleman, who clocked 184.299 miles per
hour in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. A rookie for Joe Gibbs Racing, Coleman
has finished no higher than 15th in his first four starts this season.
This team knows what they're doing,"
Coleman said. "This is a great car. It sucked up well in the draft.
"Without my team, I wouldn't be able to do this. Joe Gibbs Racing is
such a great organization. They just do such a great job back at the
shop and at the track."
The 19-year-old Coleman will be flanked on the front row Saturday by
Dave Blaney, who qualified at 184.062 mph in a Toyota Camry. Blaney
enters the race second in the series points standings but trails leader
Carl Edwards by a whopping 424 points.
Jason Leffler will start third in a Toyota, followed by the Dodge
Charger of Casey Mears and Ford Fusion of Ward Burton.
Edwards qualified ninth in a Ford and three-time reigning race winner
Martin Truex Jr. will start 13th in a Chevrolet.
