Australian to fight for WBO lightweight title

(AP) -- Australia's WBO interim lightweight world champion Michael Katsidis said Thursday he will fight two-division world titleholder Joan Guzman in Anaheim, Calif., on May 26.

It will be the first professional fight in the United States for the 26-year-old Australian, who won the interim title with a fifth-round knockout of Britain's Graham Earl in London in February.

Katsidis has a professional record of 22 wins and no losses with 20 knockouts.

Guzman, from the Dominican Republic, is stepping up in weight after winning world titles at junior featherweight and super featherweight. The 30-year-old Guzman has a record of 27-0 with 17 KOs.

Guzman won the super featherweight title last September in Las Vegas in a split decision over Jorge Barrios.
